Plan on being away from your plants for more than a week? Try using a hydrospike to keep your plants watered. 

Hydrospikes connect to a water filled source like a plastic water bottle or jar. As your plant dries, gravity pushes water slowly and evenly into the soil, keeping your plant's hydration in check over a longer period of time. 

This can also be used as a regular watering method if you don't mind the look of the water bottle sitting in your plant. Just remember to check them every now and then for algae.
